The materials i principally use are: Gouache, Ink, Watercolour, Soft coloured pencil, Acrylic, Tissue paper, Coloured paper and Letter transfer.
This is always on quality papers including: Hahnemuhle, Johannot (Amsterdam), Somerset and Arches, some work is oil on canvas.
I find water based paints and inks exciting and most suitable for the work I make.
By nature, Gouache, Water colour and inks can be less controllable mediums which might come to rest on a surface in an unpredictable fashion.
In this way, they allow for more spontaneous and unique pieces since the watery paint will run where it likes and dry in yet another way.
I like to take this unpredictability then work back over the top in a very controlled manner with painting, graphics, collage, text to achieve both a discussion and a symbiosis between these two slightly disparate compostional elements.
